Enoteca Wine Shop proprietor Margaux Singleton
(aka "MX") has been a fine wine retailer for years,
after starting to collect wine and a personal cellar coincidentally
the same year Robert Parker's Wine Advocate was first published. [Trivia
buffs: name that year.] In fact Singleton was one
of Parker's early subscribers. She established Enoteca
Wine Shop in Calistoga in 1997 in a second floor location, then
moved across the street to ground floor level 6 years later on
December 19, 2003. The new store located at 1348
Lincoln Avenue next to Silverado Pharmacy has a spectacular
interior commissioned by world renowned trompe l'oeil painter
Carlo Marchiori to evoke an underground wine cellar or cave composed
of rocks, strata and ancient stone archways. Even the
store's exterior entry foyer features a mural with Marchiori's
magic touch. |
